Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Quick answers to common questions about gameplay, accounts, and online multiplayer rooms.

Q1: Is Family Board Game completely free to play?

Yes! Family Board Game is 100% free to play in your web browser. There are no paid downloads, required in-app purchases, or pay-to-win mechanics.

Q2: Do I need an account to play?

You can sign in quickly using email or Google single-sign-on (SSO). Signing in preserves your display name, saves local game progress, and authorizes access to online rooms.

Q3: Can I play offline on a single smartphone or tablet?

Yes! Choose Local Match from the main menu. Up to 4 players can play pass-and-play on a single shared device screen without needing an active internet connection once loaded.

Q4: How do I invite friends to an online match?

Select Play with Friends, choose the player count, and click Next to create an online room. Share the generated 5-character Room Code with your friends so they can enter it into the Room code box on their devices.

Q5: What devices and web browsers are supported?

Family Board Game is built using modern responsive HTML5 Canvas technology and supports mobile smartphones (iOS/Android), tablets, laptops, and desktop computers running Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, or Samsung Internet.

Q6: What happens if I accidentally close or refresh my browser during a match?

Don't worry! Local matches automatically save your game state to local storage. When you return to the main menu, a prompt will ask if you want to resume your saved game. For online games, re-opening the site automatically reconnects your socket session to your active room.

Q7: How do Safe Star tiles work?

Tiles marked with white safe stars protect pawns resting on them. Opponent pieces landing on a safe star tile will not capture your pawn—both pieces safely occupy the space together.

Q8: What happens when I roll a 6?

Rolling a 6 grants an immediate extra roll! However, if you roll 6 twice in a row, your 3rd roll is capped between 1–5 to maintain game balance and prevent endless loops.

Q9: How do I report a technical bug or give developer feedback?

We welcome player feedback! Visit our Contact Page or send an email to jsnerdvibes@gmail.com with details about your device and a description of the issue.
